With five kids all under the age of 18 living at home, Ella Schrock and her husband Melvin have no issues remaining busy. And unfortunately, much of Ella’s time is spent finding ways to get her hands on enough food to supply her household full of growing boys and girls.

Ella works two days per week as a school lunch lady while Melvin is a truck driver. The remainder of her time is spent doing what is needed to keep her family fed and safe. The couple works hard to make their money stretch until the end of the month, but often that becomes difficult.

Ella learned about the Great Plains Food Bank Mobile Food Pantry when it stopped in the school parking lot in Halliday. She quickly took advantage of the services and found it to be a needed food supplement for the family. With money being tight, the mobile food pantry takes some pressure off the family’s grocery bill each month.

Ella says they are able to make the food they receive last about a month. Additionally, the food assistance helps them save trips to Dickinson for groceries, which is an hour away.

Ella remains appreciative of all the food assistance provided through the Great Plains Food Bank.

“I am grateful and thankful for the time and service,” she says.
